FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Jackson, WY –February, 2008
Wink Inc., Quiksilver and Travis Rice team up to bring you the most progressive snowboard competition of the year, the first annual Natural Selection 2008 in Jackson Hole, WY.
The world’s most skillful snowboarding athletes made their way to Jackson Hole for the snowboarding event of the year, an all natural big mountain terrain competition. Hometown hero and international snowboarding super star, handpicked 16 premiere boarders to compete for two days of fierce competition.
Riders were given the chance to compete at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s most infamous runs--Dick’s Ditch and Casper Bowl--in their absolute optimal conditions. A seven day window of competition, from January 31-February 6th, allowed the competitors to wait for the weather to cooperate in order to ensure optimal boarding and filming conditions.
To further enhance the natural backcountry feel of the event, the runs were closed to the public for weeks before the event. The unusual volume of snow prior to the event created a blanket of unprecedented powder that took this competition to the next level.
Wink Inc. caught this synergy of natural events and human efforts using film’s most cutting edge technology. A Hollywood team of cameramen were commissioned to catch the full length of each rider’s Dick’s Ditch run with a high speed HD cable camera. Single cameramen were strategically placed along the slopes to capture every air and cliff drop. Wink’s tireless editors worked through the night to bring you next day HD web coverage of the exciting event.
Check out the competition along with behind the scenes commentary, rider interviews, and party clips in the high definition webcast at www.quiksilver.com/naturalselection.
Look forward to the one hour action packed Fuel show and an hour long up close and personal HD television show to see more of the event that takes snowboarding out of the park and back into the mountains.
